Classes and Prices

Join our weekly local classes designed to cultivate the essential strands of mathematical proficiency outlined in the National Research Council’s report, "Adding It Up." These strands include adaptive reasoning, strategic competence, conceptual understanding (comprehension of mathematical concepts, operations, and relations), procedural fluency (skill in carrying out procedures flexibly, accurately, efficiently, and appropriately), and productive disposition (a habitual inclination to see mathematics as sensible, useful, and worthwhile, coupled with a belief in diligence and one’s own efficacy).

Our bundled packages are crafted with a commitment to trial and error, persistence, and the invaluable resource of time.

I meet with students in person twice a week, laying the groundwork for understanding and growth. Additionally, "drop-in" sessions are scheduled as needed, whether online or in person. Continuous communication is encouraged, with the flexibility of texting, calling, or emailing for check-ins, collaborative work, or casual conversations.

Together, we embark on a journey of goal setting and system building. The coaching sessions are student-led within the framework we establish together. Flexibility is our strength, and family or school meetings can be planned as needed to ensure a holistic approach to learning.

The first few weeks are dedicated to mutual understanding, laying the groundwork, and exploring the root causes of any math anxiety. We collaboratively identify systems that may need adjustment or maintenance, setting the stage for a successful learning journey.
Throughout the semester, several strategies are consistently applied:
Gently pushing students beyond their comfort zones to foster a growth mindset at a pace comfortable for them.
Integrating mindfulness practices into sessions to promote focus and resilience.
Regularly checking school websites and proactively communicating with parents and students between sessions.
Encouraging every student to self-advocate with teachers via email, fostering independence and communication skills.

To encourage extended engagement, our enrollment discounts grow with the duration of commitment. Weeks with extended breaks seamlessly roll over, providing continuous support. In-person sessions are reserved for up to 5 hours per week (average 3 days/week, 90 minutes/session). Online check-ins and school meetings are scheduled as needed, ensuring comprehensive support tailored to individual needs.

Cancellation Policy
Your time is as valuable as mine. For this reason, we request that you cancel at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. This will allow us to offer your spot to another student. You may email me at info@latanyacolemancarter.com to cancel.
Please note, we do not offer refunds. However, if you give us at least 24 hours notice of your need to cancel, we will credit your payment toward another appointment time. If you do not cancel with at least 24 hours notice, you will lose any payments you have already made. If the tutor must cancel, we'll reschedule at your convenience.
